The Brass Monkey Club was formed in June 2004 to promote winter flying in Tiger Moth VH-SDR.This restored DH 82A operates at Curtis Aviation at Camden near Sydney.Surprisingly, to a lot of people around the world, the winter months in Sydney Australia can be quite cold.Flying an open cockpit Tiger Moth aircraft from June through to September is invigorating and a whole heap of fun. Each pilot or passenger that flies in VH-SDR during the winter months receives a certificate confirming their membership to"The Brass Monkey Club"
The Club encourages intrepid aviators of any age and gender to freeze their extremities to a point where they nearly drop off!!!! We are only joking, yes we do fly when its cold but only to have a lot of fun and salute the pioneers of aviation of years gone by, who really did know what it was like to brave the elements.

"FREEZING FLYING IS FUN" has been adopted as our Club Motto.

The criteria for membership to The Brass Monkey Club in 2004 was to fly in Tiger Moth VH-SDR for at least 2 hours or more within the months June through to September.
